The second annual Deluna Fest took place this weekend and the festival was entertaining from start to finish. We wrote in our Bonnaroo 2011 recap that the music was secondary to battling the elements. Hours of traffic jams, 100 degree heat, dust clouds, dehydration, no shade, smelly hipsters, no cell reception, and mosh pit injuries are the norm for festivals in the South. Deluna Fest on Pensacola Beach had none of those aforementioned problems. The whole weekend was a walk in the park sand. If you’re a novice festival goer unsure about making it through a marathon weekend, this is the festival for you, with plenty of options to cool off from the Florida sun. Hopefully Deluna will return in 2012. Needless to say, the bands killed it, with acts like Big Boi, Weezer, and The Shins providing plenty of energy to the beach people and the boats listening offshore.
