Buddy Holly was one of the world’s original rockers. His influence has permeated nearly every rock song that followed, including works by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello. Fast forward 50 years or so, and Capital Records wants to make sure we know that although the music died February 3, 1959, it was reborn and is still kickin’. Next Tuesday, June 28, they will release “Rave On Buddy Holly,” a tribute album to Buddy Holly full of covers by adoring fans.
These fans include big names in rock such as Paul McCartney and Lou Reed, as well as some artists typically found on sites like TooGoodForRadio, including: The Black Keys, Florence + The Machine, Julian Casablancas, and Modest Mouse. Lucky for us Capital Records has decided to stream the whole record on SoundCloud. Stream away below, and remember the greatness that was Buddy Holly.
