Do you ever hear one of those songs that makes you question your taste in music and quite possibly makes you question your life on a much deeper level? No? Well, while driving home from work the other day I discovered such a song — Scissor Sister‘s “Lets Have a Kiki (Almighty Remix)”.
Out of nowhere, without any warning whatsoever, SiriusXM Sattelite Radio unleashed this track upon my eardrums. Was this a joke? Some DJ’s spiteful revenge after being let go or denied a promotion? I don’t know. All I know is that I found myself awkwardly bouncing along to the strangely catchy beat. The vocals in the track remind me of the early-90’s club kid scene and invokes images of Macaulay Culkin’s androgynous persona in Party Monster.
This one is definitely not for everyone. It’s odd, awkward, and often unforgiving, but it’s not ashamed to be just that. Sometimes different can be a good thing, especially in today’s music world.
Here at Too Good For Radio, it’s our job to scour the dark underbelly of the internet for music so you don’t have to get your hands dirty. Sometimes we find gold. Sometimes we’re not so lucky. Let us know what you think about this one.
