Almost Famous – Austra

Canadian Electronic trio Austra might be a household (apartmenthold?) name to some of you, with over 25,000 fans on their Facebook, but it’s a damn shame they’re not more known yet. Feel It Break was Austra’s debut album and it was synthy to the max with lead singer’s Katie Stelmanis huge falsetto echoing all over their pop atmosphere. Austra sounds like Florence and the Machine but with more unpredictability. Here’s their video “Lose It” and two remixes by Diamond Rings and Young Galaxy, the latter of which is available on Sparkle, a Feel It Break remix album:

Here’s another single off Feel It Break called “Beat of the Pulse”, accompanied with a steady drum and bass-step remix:

Check out a live performance of “Spellwork”, another cut of Feel It Break, and grab a sweet remix by MNDR, who never disappoints. “Spellwork is out now backed by a brand new Austra song “Identity” which you can stream over at Disco Naivete.
